People of Inner Madhes Suffer in Kanchanpur District

Kanchanpur, July 11: Locals of Shirsha and Jogbudha VDCs in Kanchanpur district bordering India have been compelled to depend on Indian markets for being remote VDCs of the district.

The locals of inner Madhes have been forced to use Indian salt without iodine.They have been living a troublesome life as they have to depend on Indian markets for every goods besides the suppression of the Indian Border Security personnel at the bordering areas.

Locals of the two VDCs have been depending on India for each and every goods including that of kitchen to medicines.They said that they have been bringing various goods including salt from Indian markets by crossing the Mahakali River as they do not have access to Nepali market.

A local Rajendra Bista said that they used to go to India as it only takes three hours to reach Tanakpur via Indian territory while it takes eight hours to reach the district headquarters from Shirsha VDC.Locals said that they have been compelled to use Indian route due to lack of transport facility.

Dinesh Bharati said that they have been facing different problems as they are thrashed and looted from personnel of Indian Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) and Indian entrepreneurs while using the Indian route.
