Export Of Herbs Easy After ID Received

Ilam, May 13: Farmers of northern village in Ilam district involved in herb farming said that they have been feeling easy after receiving identity cards.

The farmers, who received identity cards, have been free from different types of taxes and problems while exporting herbs. The farmers have been involved in selling Chiraito and Majito herbs.

The identity cards were distributed to farmers of Mai Pokhari, Maimajhuwa, Jogmai, Naya Bazaar and Jamuna involved in herb farming on the initiatives of the District Forest Office.

The farmers have got discounts on taxes while exporting herbs and have become free from different hassles after receiving the identity cards, said Lila Bhattarai of Mai Pokhari.

According to Chief at the Singhabahini Area Forest Office, Ram Swarth Saha, the identity cards were distributed to 400 farmers three years ago with the purpose of smooth export of herbs and for the benefit of the farmers.

As many as 4,843 farmers in the areas have been involved in commercial herb farming, according to Chairman of the High Hill Herb Production and Protection Organization, Netra Burja.
