'Govt. Neglecting Cooperative Sector'

Kathmandu, May 14: Lawmaker Chakra Bahadur Thakuri has said that cooperative sector was at risk along with politics and expressed his confidence that cooperative sector could be robust once political situation was improved.

Thakuri expressed the view while inaugurating the second anniversary of Makalbari Saving & Credit Cooperative in the capital on Monday.

He said cooperative were not making sufficient financial progress despite their rising numbers lately and urged all involved in cooperative sector to pay their attention on it.

Thakuri blamed the government for paying attention for the development of the cooperative though cooperative was regarded as one of the three pillars of economy.

On the occasion, Vice-chairman of the CPN-UML Kahtmandu District Committee, Krishna Rai, said that development activities have been operated with the assistance of cooperative in foreign countries and added that this model could also be suitable in our context.

Chairman of the cooperative, Govinda Paudel presented the annual report of the cooperative. The cooperative has around Rs 2 million capital.
