Co-operatives As Tool Of Economic Progress: Keshab Badal

Damak, Aug. 29: Chairman of the National Cooperatives Association, Keshab Badal, has said role of the cooperative sector has increased for economic development.Inaugurating the 16th anniversary and 18th general assembly of the Damak based Mechi Cooperatives, Badal said cooperative is one important pillar out of the three pillars of economic development.
Stating that the role of cooperative sector is on increase to create employment by increasing public-awareness in people from the rural areas to the cities, he said that cooperative movement will be successful if cooperatives are run in disciplined manner.
On the occasion, Registrar at the Department of  Cooperatives, Kedar Neupane, said the government has already started to regulate works of cooperatives minutely.
Ram Chandra Upreti of the National Cooperatives Association stressed on development of cooperatives for economic development.
Mechi scholarship was provided to four children of members of the cooperatives, who secured highest marks in SLC examination, among them.
Similarly, journalist Bishnu Pokhrel was awarded with Cooperative Award that carries a purse of Rs. 3,000.Likewise, the cooperative also honoured different best clients.
