UCPN Maoist To Make Maximum
Kathmandu, May 24: The meeting of the UCPN-Maoist Standing Committee has drawn the conclusion to make maximum efforts to promulgate constitution with consensus by May 27.
The party has said if there is no consensus, efforts for due process will also be moved ahead.
Stating that the situation of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML not being ready for consensus and not ready for the due procedures either has posed danger of CA being dissolved, the party said that it has brought a situation that they could backtrack from federalism, and federal republic either.
The leaders after the meeting said the party was committed for PM's resignation before constitution is promulgated as per the five-point consensus. But the meeting determined that PM's resignation is impossible if there is no consensus and no situation to promulgate constitution.
The demand from NC and UML for resignation is not possible as such, said Standing Committee Member and Minister Barshaman Pun.
He made it clear that the PM will resign soon after a draft constitution is made after finalization of state restructuring.
The Party is committed to five-point consensus but to tender resignation for NC and UML is not possible, he said.
In the meeting, party chairman Pushpakamal Dahal while informing about the contemporary political situation said the party will make efforts to forge consensus to finalize constitution by May 27.
The meeting also stressed on taking issues to CA from Dispute Resolution Subcommittee and Constitutional Committee.
The meeting held at Dahal's residence at Lajimpat also drew the conclusion to take into confidence the stakeholders including Madhesis, Nationalities, women, dalits and Muslim. The party will also talk with small parties, NC and UML.
To extend CA term is compulsion not pleasure for Maoist party and the government, Pun said.
