Sayami Appointed the New Dean of IOM, Dr. KC Breaks Fast
Kathmandu, Aug. 18: Prakash Sayami has been appointed as the Dean at Institue of Medicine, Maharajgunj of Tribhuwan University (TU) today.
Dr. Govinda KC, orthopedist professor of IOM who was on the sixth day of his fast-unto-death demanding the appointment of the dean on the basis of seniority and work efficiency instead of political affiliation, has called off the fast agitation today. A patient of Dr. KC provided him juice to break his fast.
A meeting between Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai (TU's Chancellor), Education Minister Dinanath Sharma (Assistant Chancellor) and Hira Bahadur Maharjan (Vice Chancellor) held at the PM's official residence this morning directed for the appointment, considering the deterioration of Dr. KC's health and pressure from various walks of life.
