Prez Turned Down Ordinances
Kathmandu Aug 18: President Ram Baran Yadav has turned down two Cabinet-forwarded ordinances related to elections to the Constituent Assembly on froday, saying they lacked relevance.
Issuing a press statement on Friday, the Office of the President said that the President did not see any relevance of introducing the ordinance at the moment in view of the Election Commission's official notice to the government that the conducting the election on November 22 would not be possible to to lack of political consensus and necessary laws.
The government had on July 27 presented two separate ordinances to the President related to the amendment to the Election Act and the Election to the Constituent Assembly.
Though Prime Minister has admitted in media interviews that the election would not be possible in November, the government has not said anything officially regarding the polls.
