Alliances Will Lead Toward Polarization: Lekhi

Lahan, Aug 18: Chairman of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Rajkumar Lekhi, has warned that the polarization of different political parties into alliances may invite conflict in the nation.
Speaking at an interaction organised here on Friday, he said the alliances would invite conflict rather than support to settle political disputes prevailing in the nation.
NEFIN Chairman Lekhi said, "The three alliances led by the Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the alliance between the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML), and the CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baiddya-led alliance have created the environment of conflict." He stressed the need of forging consensus giving up all the alliances.
He said the new constitution should be promulgated through Constituent Assembly, adding the constitution promulgated from other ways would not be acceptable to them.
NEFIN leader Lekhi further said that the indigenous nationalities were not for ethnic states but for the federal states with their recognition. The CA should be reinstated for the time being and the new constitution promulgated by it, he said.
