60 Percent People In Nepalgunj Have No Toilets
Nepalgunj, June 21: A statistics has been made public that out of the total population of Banke district, 60 per cent are out of access to toilets.
According to related officers, it will be difficult to reach the goal in the next three years as implementation is very weak though there is a target to make the district open defecation free district during the period of next three years.
It is said that effective programmes to make the district with 46 VDCs and one municipality open defecation free district could not reach to other VDCs though Bageshwori and Radhapur VDCs have been already turned into open defecation free VDCs.
Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Division, Ashok Sharma said that 61.4 per cent population in the district has no toilets.
Officers said that project of making the district an open defecation free district could not be completed due to lack of sufficient health awareness, lack of budget for implementation of the project, system of not starting projects on time though preparations are underway to declare the district an open defecation free district by mid-April 2015.
