Maoist Lawmaker Kafle critically hurt in road mishap
DHARAN, Feb 22: UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Sabitri Kumar Kafle has been seriously injured in a road accident at Aapgachhi, Dharan-11, Sunsari, on Wednesday morning.
The Maoist lawmaker, who was riding pillion on a motorbike (Ko 10 Pa 3586) while on his way to attend a party function in Dharan at the time of the accident, has been undergoing treatment in Neuro Hospital, Biratnagar.
Sunsari joint secretary of the party Aditya, citing hospital hospital sources, said he is still unconscious and that his condition is critical.
YCL Dharan chief Binod BK was riding the motorcycle that was hit by a speeding Land Rover jeep (Ko 1 Ja 597) from behind. He has sustained minor injuries in the incident.
DSP Rajendra Bista of the Area Police Office, Dharan, said they have impounded the jeep and detained its driver Gopal Adhikari.
Kafle was elected to the Constituent Assembly from Sunsari Constituency No 3. The injured lawmaker is also a central committee member of the party´s Kochila State Council.
