Forum-Ganatantrik suspends minister gupta from party
KATHMANDU, FEB 22 -The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik (MJF-G) has suspended its Chairman Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta from the party.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday convicted Gupta also the Information and Communications Minister of corruption and sentenced him to jail.
Gupta was handed down an 18-month jail term and slapped a fine of Rs 8.4 million for amassing wealth disproportionate to his income.
The office bearers meeting held at party central office in Sankhamul under the chairmanship of joint secretary Raj Kishore Yadav this morning decided to suspend Gupta from the party.
"Gupta has been suspended after proven guilty," MJF-G Joint General Secretary Ahamad Sah informed.
According to him, a central committee meeting has been called on Thursday to discuss the SC decision on Gupta and party's future strategy.
The MJF-G was formed after the split with MJF-L. Prior to this case, MJF-G leader BP Yadav was also suspended after being convicted of misusing passport.
