Indigenous leaders Clears Khanal About Unitary Ethnic Identity

Kathmandu, May 14: The Nepal Federation of Indigenous and Nationalities (NEFIN) has drawn attention of the Chairman of CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal to federate the country based on unitary ethnic identity.

Meeting with Khanal on Monday, a team of representatives from NEFIN and different ethnic groups demanded to address their concerns in the new constitution, according to general secretary of NEFIN Angkaji Shepra.

On the occasion, Khanal expressed his commitment to keep the demands of the indigenous communities at the top leaders meetings.

Khanal also claimed that the UML was raising voices for suppressed and indigenous communities from the past and the party would be serious to this end this time too, Naresh Tamrakar of Newa: Dey Dabu quoted Khanal as saying.

Representatives of Newar, Rai, Limbu, Tamang, Magar, Tharu, Gurung, Sunuwar and other ethnic communities were present on the occasion.
