640 People Found HIV- Infected In Birgunj

Birgunj, June 7: A total of 640 people have been found infected of HIV-AIDS out of those coming for voluntary counseling and blood test.
Out of those coming for test in the Voluntary Counseling and Blood Test conducted jointly by the Students Awareness Forum (SAF) and Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, the number was found infected, said Convenor of the District AIDS Coordination Committee Sweta Sarik today.
They are from Bara, Parsa and Rautahat district visiting the blood test centre until mid-May.
The main causes of HIV are unsafe sex, drug abuse and unprocessed injection.
The number of HIV infected has increased because of poverty, lack of resources, and unemployment and increasing number of foreign job seekers, said chairman of the District AIDS Coordination Committee and Parsa LDO Gajendra Thakur.
