FF Concerned Over Noc's Denial To Provide Complete Information

Kathmandu, June 30: A non-government organization working in the sector of human rights and transparency, Freedom Forum has expressed concern over Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC)'s denial to provide complete information about free distribution of petroleum products.
The NOC did not provide the information the FF sought about the free coupon distribution to various persons and offices for the petroleum.
After the mounting complaints from general public that the NOC provided hefty amount of petroleum products freely to the bigwigs  every year, the FF demanded the complete information as who were provided free coupon, how much petrol was provided and on which date.
On December 6 last year, FF Chairman Taranath Dahal had sought the complete information about this from July 17, 2006 to December 6, 2011 with the NOC.
As the NOC provided incomplete information, the FF had appealed to the National Information Commission (NIC) on April 10 this year by making defendant to NOC Chief Executive Officer, Suresh Kumar Agrawal.
Although the Right to Information Act 2007 has clearly mentioned that 'final decision should be taken before 60 days of the appeal made to the NIC on information seeking,' no action was taken though the time expired, the FF said.
