67th Anniversary Of Republic Of Indonesia Marked

Kathmandu Aug 20: On the occasion of the 67th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the flag hoisting ceremony took place at the Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia at IME Complex premises.
Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia to Nepal, hoisted the red and white flag this morning to commemorate the 67th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of Indonesian community currently residing in Nepal along with the staff members of Consul's Office and IME Pvt. Ltd.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Nepal was established in 1960 and since December 2007 the Embassy of Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka is accredited to Nepal. Since the accreditation Indonesia has also appointed Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Executive Chairperson of IME Pvt. Ltd., as the Honorary Consul for further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
Indonesia is growing as a large market for the world and it is also the largest economy in ASEAN. Trade volume between Nepal and Indonesia is also very high as the latter is one of the largest trade partners of Nepal. People to people contact have been steadily increasing between the two friendly countries after the establishment of the Office of the Honorary Consul.
