AFC Football: Nepal Thrases Bangladesh
Kathmandu, June 16: Nepal has started off with a win in the ongoing AFC U-22 football tournament.
Nepal defeated Bangladesh 4-1 in the first game under the league stage of the tournament played at the Dasrath Stadium ground here today.
Nepali team captain Bharat Khawas scored the first goal for Nepal in the 5th minute into the game.
Both teams could not score any goals save Khawas in the first half of the game.
However, Deepak Bhusal scored a goal in the 49th minute, Nagajit Shrestha scored one goal in the 61st minute and Sujal Shrestha a goal each in the 67th and 93rd minute of the play.
Nepal will take on Yemen on Monday.
JORDAN DEFEATS YEMEN
Similarly, Jordan defeated Yemen four goals to nil in the match held under the Group D of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Asia Cup Selection football tournament here today.
The match was held at the Dasrath Stadium ground at Tripureshwar. Captain of the Jordanian team Hamja Al- Dardur gave a lead to his team by scoring a goal in the 28th minute of the game.
Similarly, Mohamud Jatara scored a goal in the 37th minute, Mushab Alaham in the 81st minute and Khalil Zaid Baniyath in the 83rd minute for Jordan.
Jordan was reduced to ten players in the 41st minute of the game as the team captain was shown a red card for knocking down Ibrahim Goham of Yemen.
This is the first time the AFC U-22 Asia Cup selection tournament is being held.
