Nepal Lost Its Consecutive Second Game
Kathmandu AUG 15 -Nepal loss second consecutive match in the ICC U-19 World Cup losing to Ireland by 14 runs on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 186 runs, the Nepali side was all out in 171 runs in the last over. The loss has virtually ended Nepal’s chances to make through the second round of the competition.Electing to bat first, Ireland posted a target of 185 runs, losing eight wickets in total 50 overs as SC Getkat scored highest of 47 runs while AR McBrine contributed 41 runs and TE Kane scored 39 runs.
Nepal’s bowlers Prithu Baskota, Rahul BK, Bhuvan Karki and Avinash Karn grabbed two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Nepal were restricted at 171 runs in 49.3 overs. BK contributed highest of 32 runs while Subash Kakurel contributed 31, Pradeep Baskota 29 runs, Baskota 20 runs and Karn 14 runs.
GH Dockrell grabbed four wickets while GJ McCarter and PKD Chase took two wickets each and TE Kane took a wicket.
Earlier, wining the toss and choosing to bat first, Ireland’s inning was build mainly around Shane Getkate’s 47 off 81 balls and Andy McBrine’s 41 off 79 balls. Tyrone Kane (39) also added some valuable runs to finish the Irish inning on 185 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Nepali bowlers Avinash Karn, Prithu Baskota, Rahul Biswakarma and Bhuwan Karki grabbed two wickets each.
Nepal will now play against England in their last group match on Thursday. Australia has already qualified into the second stage from the group after registering three wins from as many matches.
Nepal had lost their first match of Group 'A' by a huge margin of 212 runs against Australia on Monday.
