The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has published an official biography of Prime Minister Balendra Shah on its website, but it omits his birth date and the names of his parents. The biography, made public on Saturday, October 3, 2026, about six months after Shah assumed office, was reported by Nagarik News to lack these fundamental personal details.
While the biography provides extensive information on Prime Minister Shah’s political, educational, and professional background, as well as aspects of his personal life, it conspicuously leaves out his date of birth. Similarly, although it mentions his wife, Sabina Kafle, and their daughter, the names of his father and mother are not included.
Prime Minister Shah’s birth date is April 27, 1990 (Baisakh 14, 2047 BS). His father is Dr. Ramnarayan Shah, an Ayurvedic physician, and his mother is Dhruvadevi Shah. These details, while publicly known, are absent from the official biography on the PMO website.
The biography details that Shah assumed the role of Prime Minister on March 27, 2026. Prior to this, he served as the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City from 2022 to 2025. His educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in Karnataka, India, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Purbanchal University.
The biography also highlights Shah’s journey in music, noting that he released the song “Sadak Balak” in 2012 and gained widespread recognition through the “Raw Barz” rap battle in 2013. It states that he has composed over 25 songs and published a poetry collection titled “Aashra.”
Furthermore, the official biography outlines the government’s priorities, which include improving education, expanding health services, creating employment, fostering economic growth, promoting good governance and institutional reform, urban development, environmental sustainability, creating a favorable business and entrepreneurial environment, and enhancing international engagement.
The PMO had also released details of 25 officials and staff members of the Prime Minister’s advisory and private secretariat on October 2, 2026, approximately seven months after his appointment.
As of now, the Prime Minister’s Office has not made any official announcement regarding updating the Prime Minister’s biography to include these missing personal details.
